The Streaming Platform is Producing a Far Cry TV Series from the Minds of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The latest action-packed game that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and came out during October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is known for delighting in chaos and mayhem with equal excitement, all while telling captivating, socially charged narratives. No wonder then that FX's decision for a Far Cry anthology series attracted two visionaries whose projects have embodied all of those elements.

About the Series

Inspired by Ubisoft's popular video game franchise, the limited anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The anthology will also parallel the video games' structure by having a different location and ensemble in each season.

Key Producers

Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as lead producers on the series under their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had magnificent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is innovative, gripping, and extremely entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our partners at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this popular property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also appear in the show, but as of now, we have no details on what character that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago approved for a second instalment, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the creator.

“Having the opportunity together with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally accommodating, trusting us with one of the most renowned video-game realms ever created. And throughout this process, my FX partners continues to lift me up with their steady belief and support.”

“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology series. Every instalment is a interpretation of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a adaptation on a story,” explained Hawley. “To develop a large-scale action show that can evolve from one instalment to the next, while always delving into the essence of people through this multifaceted and unpredictable lens, is a dream come true. I’m eager to work with Rob and bring our shared unconventional, visionary approach to the screen.”

A time frame for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
