Mohamed Salah Extends Regret to Liverpool Dressing Room, Says Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has revealed that Mohamed Salah apologised to the team following the uproar from his public comments.
What Happened
He was omitted from a key Champions League match subsequent to criticising the club and suggesting his connection to the head coach had broken down.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘Should anyone feel slighted, I apologise.’”
The head coach has refused to comment publicly on whether he got an explanation from the veteran striker.
Looking Ahead
Jones insisted that the team's response stayed normal. “He was his usual self, his demeanour was positive and it was business as usual,” Jones added.
He also noted that a competitor wanting to play is preferable. “I understand there are specific approaches you can go about things,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just sit out, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
On-Field Response
Their results have been impressive in the matches since the initial controversy. He feels the Salah's words were not designed to destabilise the squad.
“In moments of frustration, it’s always been from a good place,” he finished. “It's behind us and we’re gelling well as a team, performing and starting to win games.”
