The beloved police drama Line of Duty is officially returning for its 7th season, announced by the broadcaster.

An upcoming six-episode series written by the show's creator starts production in Northern Ireland in the coming months, according to the production team.

The actress expressed excitement about the comeback, saying she was "so excited" about the show's renewal. Her co-star added, "What a joy it is to know that the Three Amigos will be back filming together next year."

The previous series wrapped up in recent years with a finale that attracted more than 17 million audience members. Speculation about a new season have been circulating for some time, but official word only came recently.

New Challenges for The Team

Series seven will open with the anti-corruption unit having been disbanded and renamed as the new police oversight body, according to production details.

Steve Arnott, Kate Fleming, and Adrian Dunbar's part continue working to combat corruption within the police force.
