British boxer Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Deadly Road Accident

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople confirmed on Wednesday evening. The athlete was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on December 29th, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.

Healing from Light Wounds

The sports star had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to leave and heal privately.

“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.

Remembering the Victims

Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the loss of his two trusted companions.”

This update on his health arrives after the boxing community offered condolences for the fighter in the aftermath of the heartbreaking incident.
